MoCase (“MoCase”, “we”, “us”) operates a technology platform that connects individuals and businesses in Mauritius with independent, qualified legal professionals. MoCase is not a law firm, does not practise law, and does not provide legal advice.

2. Information we collect
When you submit an enquiry, we collect the following information to assess your request and arrange a match. We share it with a matched legal professional only with your agreement:
- Identity and contact details — your full name, email address and telephone number.
- Matter details — the legal category you select, your indicated budget range, your residency status, and the description of your situation that you choose to provide.
- Attachments — any document you voluntarily upload with your request.
- Technical data — basic information such as browser type and pages visited, collected through cookies as described below.
We ask you not to submit passwords, full financial account details, or highly sensitive information through the request form.
3. Information we collect from legal professionals
If you apply to join our network through the Register with Us form, we collect information about you in your professional capacity:
- Identity and contact details — your full name, chambers or firm, email address and telephone number.
- Professional details — your professional title, years in practice, your Bar or Council registration number, and the practice areas you work in.
- Your CV — the document you upload, together with whatever personal information it contains.
We use this information solely to verify your professional standing, to assess your application, and — if you join the network — to match you with enquiries in your field. Your registration number is used for verification only and is never published on the platform.
Applications are retained for as long as needed to assess them and, where you join the network, for the duration of your participation. Unsuccessful applications and the CVs submitted with them are deleted once the application is closed, unless you ask us to keep them on file.
The rights set out in section 9 apply to this information in the same way, and you may withdraw an application at any time by calling +230 5 812 6860.
4. How we use your information
- To understand your legal need and identify appropriate professionals.
- To share your request with the specific legal professional we match you with.
- To respond to your enquiries and provide customer support.
- To improve the platform and the quality of our matching.
- To comply with legal obligations that apply to us.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for third-party advertising.
5. Who we share it with
Your request details are shared only with the legal professional or professionals we identify as suitable for your matter. We may also use service providers (for example, form delivery and hosting) who process data strictly on our instructions.
Once your details are passed to an independent legal professional, that professional becomes responsible for the data they hold about you under their own obligations of professional confidentiality.
6. Confidentiality
We treat your personal information and the details of your legal issue with strict confidentiality. Access within MoCase is limited to team members who need it to operate the matching service.
7. Cookies
We use a small number of cookies and similar technologies to keep the site working correctly and to remember your preferences, such as your language choice and your cookie decision. You can accept or decline non-essential cookies using the banner shown on your first visit, and you can clear them at any time in your browser settings.
8. How long we keep your data
We retain request details only for as long as necessary to provide the matching service and to meet our legal and record-keeping obligations, after which the information is deleted or anonymised.
9. Your rights
Under the Mauritius Data Protection Act 2017 you have rights in relation to your personal data, which may include the right to:
- access the personal data we hold about you;
- request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data;
- request erasure of your data in certain circumstances;
- object to or request restriction of certain processing;
- withdraw consent where processing is based on consent;
- lodge a complaint with the Data Protection Office of Mauritius.

10. Security
We apply reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
11. Children
The platform is not directed at children. If you are under 18, please ask a parent or guardian to submit a request on your behalf.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The revised version will be posted on this page with an updated date.
